The whole Chang family is in the car, ready to drive to the airport.
Connie:Picking up Nai Nai from the airport, and Nicholas is in the shirt that Nai Nai last saw him in.
Nicholas:I want Grandma to recognize me.
Connie:Lookin' real stylish.
Lily:
Do we remember the plan?
Connie:Mama has a plan?
Nicholas:We have to convince Nai Nai to stay in Australia!
Lily:
So what are we going to do?
Nicholas:
Behave!
Lily:
Connie?
Connie:I always behave...
Lily:
We'll see.
Michael:
OK! Let’s go!
The family arrives in the airport.
Michael:
Ma!
Grandma is now in the car.
Michael:
Ma, don't you love the weather?
Grandma:
Very hot.
Connie:And the traffic is... good?
Grandma:
Not enough people. Very boring.
Nicholas:
Everyone is friendly though.
Grandma:
Oh, how can anyone not be friendly to you?
Michael:
Ma, the food here is very good. The vegetables are so fresh. And the meat - best in the world.
Grandma:
Is that why you have lost weight?
Michael:
I have?
Lily:
But he's more healthy. Very fit.
Grandma:
Mmm... Disagree.
Nicholas:
Baba runs every day. We run together!
Grandma:
Really? You are such a good influence, Nicholas.
Connie:Such a suck up.
Michael:
And I work out. Look--
Michael turns to flex his bicep but then looks back to see the car in front has stopped.
Michael slams the brakes. The car is hit from the back.
Grandma:
So many bad drivers in this country!
Michael:
Is everybody OK?
Everyone nods.
Grandma:
What are you going to do?
Michael:
Ma, it’s OK. Everything will be fine.
Michael exits the car.
Other driver:
So sorry, mate.
Michael:
(tries Aussie accent)
No worries... mate. I crash this car a lot! I mean... I'm a great driver. But even great drivers make mistakes.
Melanie, our educational assistant, enters.
Melanie:Damn. That should've been way cooler...
Hi there. Melanie here. Today we'll be learning... what you should do if you get into a car accident.
Write down where you were located when the crash happened. Place. Time. Date.
Next, take a photo of the damage. Of your car and the other car too.
Lastly, exchange information. Be polite and everything will be cool. Like me, when I'm in sensible shoes. Listen to how Michael and that other terrible driver do this.
Other driver:
So, could I get some details?
Michael:
Details?
Other driver:
You know like your driver's license number, name, address, phone number, insurance details – that kind of stuff.
Michael:
Oh yeah. Sure, mate.
Other driver:
I’ll just take a picture. I think that’s it. There you go.
Michael:
Thank you. You have a good day.
Other driver:
You too, mate!
Michael enters the car and shuts the door.
Michael:
See, Ma? No problem.
Connie:
You have to drive slower so no one crashes into you, Baba!
Grandma:
Connie is a very smart girl.
Michael:
Yes, yes, yes.
Melanie:Here is a recap of what you should do when you get into a car accident.
Ask for the other driver's information.
Write down their driver's license and their insurance details, including the name of their insurance company.
Take a photo of the make, model and license plate number of the other car. And their car rego - which is short for car registration. Aussies love shortening words.
Melanie looks around.
