On Thursday, Australia reported at least 50 COVID-19 deaths, including 29 in New South Wales and 11 in Queensland.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration has issued five infringement notices totalling $66,600 to 2San Pty Ltd for allegedly failing to provide information that demonstrates the minimum level of sensitivity of two RATs.
"2San Pty Ltd has been issued multiple infringement notices for serial non-compliance in not meeting deadlines for providing information to the TGA," it said.
SBS has contacted 2San Pty Ltd for a comment.
NSW Health reported a 22 per cent rise in COVID-19 deaths in its latest weekly report.
It said the influenza activity has returned to low levels, but influenza vaccination continues to be recommended.
Victoria has announced a new general surgery centre in Bellbird Private Hospital under its $1.5 billion COVID Catch-Up Plan.
The centre will operate later this year and help more than 5,700 Victorians get surgical care annually.
The World Health Organization said the number of global COVID-19 cases declined by nine per cent for the week ending 7 August.
However, the cases increased by 29 per cent in the Western Pacific Region, which includes countries like Australia, Japan and Korea.
Japan, the US, Korea and Vietnam reported the highest weekly global cases.
