A Chinese Ausralian man has refused to leave China amid the coronavirus epidemic even after receving an evacuation letter, fearing that his family would be infected in the evacuation plan.


Chinese Australian, Jim Xiao, received an evauation letter from the Australian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. But he chose to stay in Wuhan after a serious consideration.
 
"I have considered seriously if I should go back to Australia through the evacuation plan. But the virus infection rates in the evacuation plans of other countries was about 1.4% which I think is a little bit high, while the destination of Australian evacuation plan, Christmas Island, is short of medical services." Mr Xiao told SBS Mandarin.
 
The coronavirus epidemic is very serious in the city of Wuhan which was locked down before LNY. Mr Xiao said Wuhan is in shortage of facial masks and really needs help.
