Cairo: Egyptians back laws that could keep President Sisi in power until 2030

Just 44.33 per cent of Egyptians voted in a referendum and 88.83 per cent of them have approved amendments giving President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi a longer term.


Egyptian voters have overwhelmingly backed constitutional changes that, the electoral board said Tuesday.

National Election Authority head Lashin Ibrahim told a Cairo press conference that 88.83 percent voted "yes" in a referendum on the amendments, with 11.17 percent voting "no".
