Ingredients
- 5 large Granny Smith apples (about 1 kg)
- ¼ cup caster sugar
- ¼ cup water
- Double cream or ice-cream, to serve
For the crumble topping
- ½ cup self-raising flour
- ¼ cup plain flour
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 100 g butter, chilled and diced
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C fan-forced). Grease deep 1.5 litre (6-cup) baking dish.
- Peel, core and quarter the apples. Cook the prepared apples with the sugar and water in large saucepan over low heat, covered, for 10 minutes, or until tender. Drain the cooked apples and discard the cooking liquid.
- To make the crumble topping, combine the ingredients in the bowl of a food processor and process until well combined.
- Place the cooked apples into the prepared baking dish and sprinkle with the crumble. Bake for 25 - 35 minutes, or until the crumble is golden on top. Serve the apple crumble with double cream or ice-cream.
