This millennial pink KitKat has sent the Internet into overdrive

When Nestlé releases a new product, the world takes notice. When Nestlé releases a brand new, millennial pink KitKat, the world (and the Internet) goes into overdrive.

The brand new, pretty-in-pink Sublime Ruby treat is made from , the (after milk, dark and white) invented by Swiss chocolatier last year. Ruby chocolate is made form the Ruby cocoa bean, which lends a trademark pink hue and a sweet, berry-like flavour to the final product.

“The Ruby chocolate offers a new taste experience,” Nestlé Head of Marketing Confectionery Anna Stewart tells SBS. “It has a berry fruitiness and is lusciously smooth.”

Sublime Ruby is the welcome result of a collaboration with a top Japanese pastry chef, . “Under the management and supervision of Takagi, who is owner and head chef of , the KitKat Chocolatory in Japan has been involved in developing new KitKat products since 2003,” Stewart says. “Who better than Takagi to make develop an innovative new KitKat product?”

Currently, the Sublime Ruby KitKat is available to purchase in KitKat’s Chocolatory boutiques in Japan and Korea, and 80 pop-up stores throughout Japan in the lead up to Valentine’s Day. Japan and KitKat are a match made in heaven – the country is the KitKat capital of the world, with over (and counting), including wasabi and .
What about us, though? Unfortunately for KitKat fans Down Under, the Sublime Ruby won’t be hitting our shores for the time being. And, while you can drool over the new KitKat on , it doesn’t yet ship to Australia. Rough go!

But it’s not all bad news. “We’ll have some special flavours available soon at the KitKat for Lunar New Year,” says Stewart. And to soften the blow, there are the just-released KiKat Mint 2 Ways and KitKat Caramel Pretzel 2 Ways to keep Australian fans content.
KitKat lovers can also “create their own break” at the store in Melbourne, mixing and matching special-edition flavours like . What a world we live in!
