Italy has long been known for its rich and vibrant contributions to food culture, and it now seems the country's influence is extending into fast food.
McDonald’s Italy have announced they are adding a Nutella burger to their menu and are promising that “you won’t be able to resist it”.
The “sweety con Nutella” as it’s been touted on the chain’s local Facebook page, consists of a sugary bun lathered with a generous serving of the hazelnut spread.
Nutella, created by Italian company Ferrero, is a much-loved staple in the land of pizza and pasta and is often spread over a croissant for breakfast. It looks as though the new Nutella burger may also prove to be a popular breakfast or afternoon snack item with the original Facebook announcement being shared close to a hundred thousand times.
It remains to be seen whether any success in the Italian market could lead to Nutella options being introduced in Australia.
