The debate about whether a hot dog is a sandwich (yes, it has been rather passionately discussed) has had new fuel added to the flames - and people aren’t happy about it.
Merriam-Webster is self-proclaimed as America’s leading and most-trusted provider of language information. They publish and provide many dictionaries in print and online. Although the publisher is a trusted source for the English language, many people do not agree with their latest piece of information. Indeed, the Twittersphere has erupted.

A few days earlier (aka Ross from Friends) thought he’d settled the debate on his new AMC show Feed the Beast where he said that a hot dog is not a sandwich because he defines a sandwich as "two pieces of bread with stuff between it”.
