Dan Hong has worked in some of the most prestigious restaurants in Australia. He began his career in the kitchen of his family's Vietnamese restaurant chain, Thanh Binh in Sydney, before joining a list of elite Sydney restaurants including Longrain, Marque, Tetsuya's and the Bentley Restaurant.
Throughout this brand-new series, Dan will hit the streets of Hong Kong, shining a light on the street food, culture and feel behind some of the bustling areas on offer. Packed with great cooking tips along the way, this fast-paced travelogue will take you on the ultimate culinary journey… let’s hit the streets and eat!
Episode 1
Dan experiences classic cha chaan teng fare at Sun Wah Cafe, before heading to Kung Wo Beancurd Factory, a traditional tofu-making shop. Back at the studio, Dan takes inspiration from the dishes he ate and makes a fusion breakfast burger, as well as his take on the classic mapo tofu.
Episode 2
Join Dan as he delves into the vibrant nightlife of Temple Street in Kowloon. Queueing up for beloved Cantonese classics like claypot rice, he later unveils his own home-cook-friendly version. Dan then embarks on a daring adventure to sample the intense aromas of Hong Kong's infamous stinky tofu.
Episode 3
Dan heads to a popular local venue on Hong Kong Island to discover why they are renowned for their flavourful congee. He then meets up with exciting young chef, Archan Chan, to experience the innovative and mouthwatering delicacies at her modern Cantonese restaurant, Ho Lee Fook.
Episode 4
Dan ventures out of the city in search of an old school Hakka dumpling house. He then visits the last remaining underground roasting facility to discover he art of Chinese style roast pork.

Episode 5
In this episode, Dan takes viewers on a tour of one of Hong Kong's original wonton noodle establishments. Savouring flavourful handmade wontons, he also shares his own recipe. From the traditional Dai Pai Dong on Temple Street to the must-try handmade fish balls in Kowloon City, Dan leaves no culinary stone unturned.
Episode 6
Dan journeys to to Hong Kong's picturesque coastal region of Sai Kung where local chef, Margaret Xu shows him the fresh local seafood on offer, before cooking him a sublime steamed crab dish. He then heads back to town in search of a restaurant that specialises in traditional Chinese sweet soups.
Episode 7
Embark on a gastronomic adventure with Dan as he explores Kowloon's rich and diverse food legacy, starting with humble street cart noodles. Continuing his journey, Dan visits one of the city's original Western fusion establishments to relish in their famous 'Soy Sauce Western Cuisine".
Episode 8
To conclude the season, Dan returns to Hong Kong Island for the ultimate street classic: Beef Brisket Noodles. From there, he ventures to the Michelin starred restaurant Celebrity Demon, where he learns the secrets of sweet and sour pork from the esteemed chef Alvin Leung. Finally Dan hits the streets to sample the city's original Hong Kong egg waffles.
