Earlier this week, a picture of a corn-chip topped pie crossed the SBS Food desk. After a brief double-take (what would that taste like?? - more on that in a minute) we got to wondering. What other unexpected culinary capers has the humble corn chip been getting up to.
Well, we had no idea. And the world of corn chip surprises is not limited to food.

Giant mac'n'cheese dorito.
Trash can nachos. Apparently Food Network star Guy Fieri is responsible for spreading (geddit!) the word on this one.
There's corn chip chocolate.
Corn chips got in early on the rainbow food trend - in the US, Doritos released a limited edition Rainbows product, inspired by the Pride flag.

And that nachos pie? It's this one, by Gelato Messina chef Tom Mitchell. Apparrently Tom loves pies, so Gelato Messina is doing a in Sydney on Saturday (March 18). Along side numbers such as Mushroom 3.14 abd Baby Don't Herd Me, there's It's Nacho Pie. Why? “I wanted to make a pie you don’t see everyday," Tom tells SBS.
