1. Gabriel gets my need to snack... on cheese
Note the display of many, MANY cheeses.
2. Whenever in doubt, ask a local
Gabriel speaks the language so he will always be able to get himself out of a 'sheepish' situation.
3. (Coffee + croissant) ÷ view = boss
There's always time to stop for a coffee and croissant along the way and Gabriel knows all the best spots.
4. He's gutsy with his food choices
For some it might be a highlight, others won't even give it a glance and then there are those that will close their eyes and dig in no matter what. Gabriel doesn't shy away from ANY food, so when in Rome or in this case when in Troyes.
5. Dessert is a separate stomach, right?
We couldn't agree more and Gabriel always rises to the dessert occasion. After a rich bouillabaisse in Marseilles he then gets a little boozy with this Grand Marnier soufflé - check out that top!
6. The best education...
After 46 years of cooking, Gabriel still loves to learn more and more about food. As he ventures behind-the-scenes at L'École Valrhona (a.k.a CHOCOLATE school!) he has me licking my phone screen every single time. I really need to be more mindful when and where I am watching his videos - at home; appropriate, on the train; passable, in a meeting in front of 20 people? Too far? It's all in the name of research, right?
7. Life is too short not to have a little fun!
This is probably the only time that a chef wearing a cycling outfit, carrying a bicycle inside a supermarket in France makes total sense - Gabriel Gaté we salute you! Vive le !
The Best of Taste le Tour with Gabriel Gaté airs every night from Saturday 6 July and finishes Sunday 28 July 2019. Visit the website to catch-up on episodes online, scroll through recipes or find out more about the show.
